JUST ANNOUNCED: New Symphony of the Seas itineraries

October 18th, 2017 by Jordan Bailey

Royal Caribbean International has just revealed three brand new sailings aboard it’s newest ship Symphony of the Seas launching in 2018.

The largest cruise ship in the world is set to debut earlier than expected, allowing for three new sailings to be offered.

The first cruise on Symphony of the Seas will now be a 5-night ‘Pre-Opening’ sailing on 31st March 2018 from Barcelona visiting Naples and Civitavecchia. Two 7-night Western Mediterranean cruises will depart 7th and 14th April 2018 from Barcelona, visiting Palma de Mallorca, Marseilles, La Spezia, Civitavecchia, and Naples.

Royal Caribbean unveils exciting details about Symphony of the Seas

On the ‘Pre-Opening’ sailing, you’ll have the opportunity to catch exclusive entertainment, access final full-dress rehearsals of Hairspray, sample new food and amp up your adrenaline with thrills like the tallest slide at sea – all before anyone else. Regular entertainment programming will begin on the 21st April.

Whilst almost all of the dining venues should be 100% ready – workers may be putting the finishing touches on some of them. Selected venues such as Hooked Seafood may feature a special tasting menu of regular menu favourites.

For more information about these new sailings, call our friendly sales team on 0800 368 9059.

Symphony of the Seas will be the largest ship in the world when she launches in spring 2018, and by the looks of it, the most fun too!

Royal Caribbean is to introduce new family suites. The Ultimate Family Suite will be a two-storey space, with a private slide, chill-out space, 3D cinema, and games tables.

As part of the announcement, Royal Caribbean also unveiled new dining options. El Loco Fresh will be a new venue for guests to satisfy their cravings for freshly-made Mexican favourites, like burritos, tacos, and salsa. Hooked Seafood will offer fresh seafood, and raw bar favourites, in a laidback atmosphere.

Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade is a venue dedicated to sporting events, and table top games, and fun arcade machines. For those with a sweet tooth, the Sugar Beach Candy & Ice Cream store is the one stop shop for homemade ice cream and confectionery.

Hairspray will return to the seas, after first launching on Oasis of the Seas in 2009. One of the best-loved musicals will once again be entertaining cruise guests, this time on the latest and greatest cruise ship, Symphony of the Seas. An original Royal Caribbean production called Flight, will take to the stage in 2018, starting in the distant future with a flight to Mars, and travelling right back to the Wright Brothers’ monumental first flight. The latest AquaTheatre spectacular, called Hiro, will be loaded with action-packed stunts, high-flying feats, and amazing acrobatics. Following on from the ice show ‘1887: A Journey In Time’, which debuted on Harmony of the Seas, ‘1977: Adventure Through Time’ will focus on a time-travelling hero trying to recover Her Majesty’s Crown Jewels from a mysterious thief. Also in Studio B will be a laser tag course, where it’s Robots V Aliens.

Symphony of the Seas launches in April 2018, and will offer cruises in the Mediterranean from Barcelona and Civitavecchia. In October, the ship will then sail to Miami to make the Caribbean her home.

This Popular British Cruise Ship Just Got Even Better!

September 27th, 2017 by Jordan Bailey

Updated November 7th 2017

One of Britain’s most popular cruise ships, Royal Caribbean International’s Independence of the Seas is to get a multi-million pound makeover in 2018.

Independence of the Seas has well and truly won the hearts of British cruise passengers, since she made her UK debut in 2008. The 4,000-passenger ship introduced the UK to many amazing cruise firsts, such as an ice-skating rink, rock-climbing wall, Flowrider surf simulator, and a shopping promenade. Now 10 years later, Independence of the Seas will WOW guests even more.

Independence of the Seas has always been a fantastic family ship, perfect for those taking a cruise for the first time. When the ship emerges from a multi-million pound refurbishment in April 2018, little cruisers will have gallons of fun at the new Splashaway Bay water park. Replacing, the current H20 Zone, this bigger and better interactive aqua park features slides, water cannons, fountains, pools and a giant drench bucket! There will also be wild waterslides that spiral over the ship! If you’re not jumping up and down by now, you soon will do. Independence of the Seas will be home to a trampoline park on top deck. For those with a quest for adventure, the new laser tag complex will be an unforgettable experience to light up afternoons at sea, or tease your brain in the challenging and exhilarating escape room. Sushi fans will love the new Izumi restaurant, serving Asian-inspired food, and high-flying hibachi where chefs cook tableside on teppanyaki grills. Guests will be able to enjoy a British classic – fish and chips at Fish & Ships. Score an amazing time at Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade and then dive into sweet treats at the Sugar Beach Candy & Ice Cream Store. Wake up in style with the most impressive views, rivalled only by the Captain on the bridge, in one of the new Panoramic Ocean View staterooms. These new staterooms will feature stunning floor-to-ceiling windows which look out over the bow of the ship.

On top of all these amazing new features, you can also enjoy everything else you’d expect from a Royal Caribbean International cruise, such as amazing dining options and spectacular entertainment – including a full-scale production of Grease The Musical!

There truly has never been a better time to cruise aboard Independence of the Seas than in 2018.

Top 10 Royal Caribbean Activities For Young Cruisers

August 9th, 2017 by Jordan Bailey

Our teen cruise expert Arran Godfrey is back again, this time to discuss the top ten activities that can be found aboard Royal Caribbean International ships…

Hello, my name is Arran Godfrey and I am 14 years old. I have been on over 100 cruises and I would like to talk to you today about the activities I like most on Royal Caribbean cruise ships. There’s a stereotype that cruising is for old people. I think cruising isn’t just for adults to enjoy, but for everyone to enjoy and I would love to give as many children as possible the opportunity to experience what a cruise is like, so hopefully I can convince you to take your children on a cruise so that they get the chance to experience the holiday of a lifetime!

Royal Caribbean kids cruising

Swimming Pools

These are a young cruiser’s favourite, which is why there are pools on pretty much all cruise ships. Not only do young cruisers love them, but so do adults, therefore this is an amazing family activity and experience, and there are plenty of pools onboard each ship so be sure to try them all out!

Rock Climbing

Rock climbing is a cool feature found on all Royal Caribbean ships and it is a great activity for adventurous children. It is a very different experience, reaching the top of the wall and looking around and seeing just the sea. It is an amazing place to have a climbing wall and young cruisers, like myself, will love this one!

Mini Golf

Mini golf is a family favourite on land and an even better family favourite out at sea! It is a great way to enjoy an activity as a family where everyone will enjoy it. Young cruisers will love this feature because it’s what they can do on land but out at sea – a whole new experience.

Royal Caribbean basketball court and slides

Waterslides

A new thing to Royal Caribbean cruise ships are water slides, and let’s face it, who doesn’t love a waterslide? Some even extend over the side of the ship. Waterslides truly are the key to unlocking children’s happiness and what better way to do it than on a cruise?

DreamWorks Experience

On certain ships there is a DreamWorks parade where you can meet DreamWorks characters, like Shrek, and Po from Kung Fu Panda! I remember when I used to go and meet my favourite characters and this was where so many of my memories were made onboard cruise ships and your young cruisers will love this experience too!

Surfing

Yes, you can surf in the middle of the sea! The more modern Royal Caribbean ships have a surf simulator, called the Flowrider. Surfing is great for older children and young adults, as well as adults. It is so much fun to be pretty much standing on water until you fall over!

H2O Zone

This is the ultimate family playground with water. Let your young cruisers roam free in this imaginative onboard water park, or go and join them and enjoy yourself with them, whichever way it goes, there is no way you can miss this one!

Skydiving

This amazing skydiving simulator is an amazing experience for all children and adults, and is available on Quantum class ships. If you have ever wondered what skydiving is like then why not try out this cool simulator. I would recommend this experience to young adults and adults who are feeling up to something a bit more different and great fun as you feel like you are flying!

North Star

The North Star is a glass observation capsule and a once in a lifetime opportunity! You get a unique view of the sea from up high and looking down over the ship. This is an amazing family experience especially for young cruisers as they can be wowed by this amazing new activity!

SeaPlex

Seaplex is where it all happens on board Royal Caribbean’s Quantum class. You can roller skate, learn acrobatics, do loads of different sports, have a go on the dodgems, or take on other players all over the world with Xbox Live!

So as you can see, there is plenty for activities aboard Royal Caribbean ships for young cruisers to enjoy and experience! Take a chance and let your children experience a cruise, it will be filled with amazing family time! I want the younger generation to experience cruises and to stop the stereotype that cruising is boring and for old people!

10 Things To Do Onboard Harmony of the Seas

September 14th, 2016 by Francesca Bandini

Harmony of the Seas is the biggest ship in the world with plenty of things to do. It might feel overwhelming when you are there and don't know what excursions to do or which entertainment you should go and watch, or even get involved in. That's why I have decided to compile a list of the best attractions you cannot miss!

Royal Caribbean - Harmony of the seas

Top 10 things to do on board Harmony of the Seas

1. Have a coffee in Central Park: you don't need to go to New York to enjoy the rejuvenating air of Central Park. In fact, Harmony of the Seas hosts an amazing spot where you forget that you are on a ship. There are many trees around and I swear I could hear some birds (despite not being there)! On the promenade there are various other tranquil venues for a coffee, snack, a cocktail or even a meal.

2. Alice in Wonderland restaurant: have you ever dreamed of being in a fairy tale where houses are made of marzipan, trees of chocolate and clouds of candy floss? You can make this dream come true on board of Harmony of the Seas, at the Alice in Wonderland restaurant. The restaurant features modern imaginative cuisine, where you can eat dishes inspired to the six elements: sun, sea, earth, ice, fire and dreams. The decor adds to the magic, but perhaps not as much as the menus - They only reveal what is on them with the help of a magic brush! A six course dinner costs $45 per person.

3. Puzzle break: I am sure that when you read on the journal 6 pm Puzzle Game: Escape the Room you will think of a board game. However, what seems a boring game turns out to be one of the most entertaining and amazing experience of your life! This game involves teamwork to escape a space in the ship by solving riddles and puzzles, with just an hour to do it in. To know more about the game read the article The most intense hour of my life

4. Surf experience: have you always dreamed of surfing but you were a little too scared? You can now surf on the Flowrider, where instructors can guide you to be the next big thing!

5. The tallest slide at sea: the Ultimate Abyss is the tallest slide at sea and is for those adrenaline junkies amongst us all. The people I met said that is was very fast and dark... I'll have to take their word for it!

6. Watching a show on Ice: at Royal Caribbean, they are well known for the amazing entertainment. It is worth spending at least one evening watching a show that you wont forget.

Ice rink

7. On air Club: this bar is really nice, not only a stage for karaoke enthusiasts but also includes various games for everyone earlier in the evening.

8. Bionic bar: There are very few places where you can experience the bartender of the future. However on this ship you can. It is not everyday you get served a cocktail from a mechanical hand!

9. Water show: Harmony of the Seas provides an excellent water show in the Aqua Theatre. This is another exciting show put on by Royal Caribbean and involves so many talented acrobats.

10. Eat a meal at the Solarium bistro: a low calorie and tasteful lunch can be found at the Solarium bistro, a buffet style meal packed with high energy and no regrets food. I really enjoyed my meal there, the setting is nice and was almost like a greenhouse.
