Watersports
On beach stops our sports team can offer you: kayaks, paddle boards and dinghies as well as water skiing and windsurfing. Enjoy your favourite water sports during the cruise or take the opportunity to try something new.
Snorkelling
Close your eyes and imagine you are soaking up the sun on a white sandy beach in the Caribbean; crystal clear waters invite you to explore the underwater world of coral reefs and colourful tropical fish. Star Clippers hands out snorkelling equipment to all passengers upon arrival on board, so all you have to do is dive in and explore.
Age Restrictions
Star Clippers cannot accommodate infants under six months of age. Children are accepted on board from 6 months old, however, there is no children’s club or babysitting available on our ships.
The minimum drinking age for all alcoholic beverages is 21.
Kids & Teens
Children are welcome onboard Star Clippers cruises. While there is no structure programme providing supervision and care for young children, they are invited to participate in shipboard activities suited to their ability. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Children occupying cabins as the third person will be charged the third person rate when availability permits.
Dress Code
Star Clippers maintains a smart casual dress code: Beach or resort-wear on deck during the day and casual during the evening. Deck shoes are the best footwear for daytime. There is one Captain’s dinner on each cruise where people dress up a little more, but there are no black-tie events or formal nights.
Fire Safety
Although the construction of the vessel has required the use of modern materials that are fire retardant and fireproof, fire remains a concern. Thank you for respecting the following rules.
- Do not smoke inside the cabins
- Do not throw cigarette butts over board
- Do not light candles or other objects of this type
- It is forbidden to iron clothes in the cabin
Laundry and Dry-Cleaning Service
Laundry services are available onboard for a nominal charge. Dry-cleaning is available only on Royal Clipper, for a nominal charge.
Lifeboat Drills
International Maritime Law requires a lifeboat drill to take place at the beginning of each cruise. All guests must attend this compulsory and important exercise. During the drill, all ship’s services will be suspended.
Your assigned lifeboat station, the location of life jackets and the signal for lifeboat and fire drills are clearly explained on the emergency card posted on your cabin’s door. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the safety instructions it contains. When the alarm is sounded, put on your life jacket according to the instructions given over the public address system. An officer will direct you to your boat station, answer any questions you might have and check that your jacket is properly secured.
Your close attention during this drill is of paramount importance for your safety.
Lost & Found
On the last night of your cruise, we suggest you do a full review of your belongings. Check in the safe, under your bed, in the closet and drawers to ensure everything has been packed. Star Clippers cannot be held responsible for items left onboard.
Medical Services
Medical services are provided by a doctor during long distance crossings and by trained nurses from the Star Clippers’ staff on other cruises . All of the ship’s officers are also able to administer first aid. When the ship conducts coastal navigation, it is always near a hospital on land, and can deal with the possibility of a passenger requiring hospital care. Passengers requiring special medication are advised to take their prescriptions along with them. The nurse only provides very basic medicine, which is sold without prescription.
Safety Rules
It is essential that you observe certain simple safety rules while on board:
- Use ashtrays for cigarette butts and used matches. Please do not throw cigars or cigarettes over board – they can be blown back onto the ship, and could cause a fire. It is forbidden to smoke in your cabin and inside the ship.
- Never run on board the ship, walk carefully, especially if the decks are wet or slippery.
- We ask women to avoid high/ pointed heel shoes as they can damage the teak decks.
IN CASE OF ROUGH SEAS:
- Avoid going out on to the decks
- Hold on to handrails in stairways and corridors
- Doors must be closed in case of heavy seas. Use the handles and never hold a door by its frame as a sudden movement of the ship could cause it to close on your hand.
- Make sure your bags are secure in your cabin and if necessary, call your steward
- Secure any objects in the bathroom and on your dressing table that could fall
Smoking Policy
Passengers can smoke in designated areas on deck.
