Polar Expedition Excursions

On expeditions in Antarctica, the Arctic and Norwegian Fjords, Iceland and Greenland, your captain quietly navigates to the ideal position for wildlife viewing, where you can set off on a Zodiac, kayak or paddle board – escorted by expert field guides – in search of breaching whales or sunbathing seals. The most epic moment may come when you set foot on a massive glacier and follow your guide to a local penguin colony or spot a polar bear diving from an ice floe. Take the polar plunge into Arctic and Antarctic waters from the yacht’s marina. Call on more modern destinations, like the Icelandic capital of Reykjavík, Norway’s Lofoten Islands, and Nuuk, the largest city in Greenland. Immersive excursions to national museums, local markets, natural spas and more reveal how human culture carves out an existence amidst the majestic fjords and glaciers.

Accept the challenge to plunge from the yacht into the icy waters of the Arctic or Antarctica as your fellow explorers cheer you on, a thrilling and invigorating experience unlike any other.

Zodiac Safaris

Our expedition team navigates custom-built Zodiac boats along icy waters just inches from floating icebergs, glacier-covered shores, and even breaching whales. Watch for porpoising penguins in Antarctic seas and polar bears on the prowl in the Arctic.

Our Zodiacs will take you ashore up to twice daily under suitable conditions. Amid the spectacular polar landscapes, our expedition team leads glacial hikes and guides you in safe observation of the local wildlife.

Sea Kayaking

On an optional kayaking excursion in Antarctica, the scale of the polar seascape seems even grander as you paddle past electric blue icebergs and soaring glacial cliffs while seabirds dive for food and marine mammals surface for air.

Ocean Stewardship

Our intimate yachts realize the possibilities of environmental stewardship with the latest hybrid power management and propulsion systems, maximizing fuel efficiency and consuming as low as one-fifth the fuel compared to conventional cruise-ship systems, reducing our impact on the environment.

Closer Without Intruding

We minimize underwater noise that stresses marine wildlife by using a hydro-jet propulsion system that allows us to cruise virtually silent up to five knots for incomparable, up-close encounters while keeping the sensitive ecosystem in mind. It’s also our responsibility to prevent damage to the fragile ecosystems on ocean floors. That’s why we avoid using anchors to maintain ship position by using a GPS-based Dynamic Position System.

Doing Our Part

It’s important to make the effort to keep waterways clear for a cleaner environment. By building our yachts with the latest and most advanced waste management and water treatment plant in the cruise industry, we take the proper steps to control waste on board. That includes storing litter that cannot be repurposed or reclaimed in a dedicated hold until landing, where it will be disposed of responsibly. Plus, we offer still and sparkling water delivered in a FREE reusable water bottle on board to help reduce waste.

Medical Services

Atlas Ocean Voyages’ yachts do have a Medical Center staffed with a licensed doctor for non-emergency and emergency services. These services are available at an additional cost. The Medical Center is designed for temporary illnesses or accidents.

Smoking Policy

Our guests’ and crew’s health, welfare and comfort are top priority for us. We have designated areas to accommodate for smoking and do not permit smoking in suites, staterooms or on balconies.

Dress Code

Aboard an Atlas Ocean Voyages’ expedition, we want you to be comfortable and recommend yacht-club casual attire. During the day, and depending on your destination and the weather, guests will be dressed in casual touring or resort attire. At night, you will find most guests dressed for casual relaxation in slacks, skirts or dresses, with sweaters or jackets optional.

Laundry

Laundry services are available for additional charges and not currently included in the cruise fare. There are no self-service laundry facilities on board. Dry cleaning is not available. Limited complimentary wash and fold laundry service is available for suites.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is available throughout the yachts. Access is provided via Starlink. Service and speed will vary depending on destination, port, satellite positioning, how many users are active, data volume in transit, and the nature of content uploads and downloads. Upon boarding, each guest receives a voucher number for 1 GB of data FREE that can be used for a single device to seamlessly communicate, share and stream content via email, YouTube, and social media apps such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, WhatsApp and Twitter. Streaming bandwidth-heavy applications such as Netflix, Amazon Prime or any other broadcasting sites is not possible. Additional packages are available for purchase once on board.

Age Restrictions

Our minimum age requirement is 12 months for Epicurean Expeditions and 8 years of age for Polar Expeditions. Additionally, children 2 years and younger are FREE on all shoreside excursions on Epicurean Expeditions.
