Observatory Lounge

This light and contemporary lounge is the ship’s main bar, and it plays host to the nightly entertainment onboard. The likes of live music and quizzes are on the cards, plus local acts like Egyptian Whirling Dervishes, Nubian shows and a weekly Galaya party, where you can really get involved by donning the traditional dress if you fancy. During the day meanwhile, there are weekly talks from Egyptologists, plus documentaries and films on TVs.

Atrium

The Atrium is the main hub of the ship. It’s where you’ll find the reception desk, and the Cruise experience manager’s desk. They’re all on hand to help with any questions, and you can book your shore experiences here, too.

Top Deck

The top deck’s ideal for a spot of relaxation while watching the world go by. There’s a pool and a couple of hot tubs to dip in, with plenty of sunloungers around them to chill out on.

Felucca bar

This bar’s right next to the restaurant which shares its name, and it’s open all day. There’s a variety of drinks to choose from, including the ‘cocktail of the day’, plus lots of comfy chairs and sofas to lounge on while you soak up the scenery.

Wellness Area

You can stay on top of your workout routine at the wellness area, which comes complete with fitness equipment and a space for exercise classes. And, if you want to take things a little easier, you can treat yourself to a massage.

Whirlpools

Sit back and relax in a pair of hot tubs on the top deck. You’ll spot them right next to the pool.

Sightsee At Leisure

If exploring at your own pace sounds more your cup of tea, our tickets and attractions experiences are perfect. You can set off on your own and join in with things like food tasting tours, or see the destination on hop-on-and-off buses. If you’d rather just bag yourself a spot in a local café and watch the world go by, that’s great, too – our cruises allow for as much sightseeing as you like.

If you want to find out everything you need to know about the ports we visit, don’t miss our Cruise Experience Manager’s daily port talks. They’ll also tell you about some of the shore experiences available. Also, use the onboard app, Navigate. It’s got port maps on it – perfect for if you want to go off and explore alone.

Egypt Shore Experiences

On our Nile cruises, you’ll have two shore experiences included as part of your package – Edfu Temple and Kom Ombo Temple. There are plenty of other optional shore experiences, as well, including visits to the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, Karnak and Luxor Temples, and Aswan High Dam. You can also opt for some more bespoke experiences, like a tour of the Abu Simbel temples, or a sound and light show at Karnak Temple. An English-speaking guide will be with you on every excursion,

Accessibility

Are your river cruise ships suitable for the less mobile and wheelchair users?

TUI River Cruises vessels have specific design limitations:

• No elevators/lifts are available on our ships, with the exception of TUI Aria which has a lift between deck’s 1-3
• Multiple staircases must be navigated throughout the vessel
• Mobility devices such as wheelchairs, scooters, or walkers cannot be accommodated onboard

Onboard Considerations

• Ship layouts include narrow corridors and doorways
• Gangway access between ship and shore involves uneven surfaces
• Emergency announcements are primarily made over audio systems
• Limited tactile guidance is available onboard

Companion Recommendations

We recommend guests with significant vision or hearing impairments travel with a companion who can:

Smoking Policy

All our ships are non-smoking, which means you can only smoke in designated areas of the top deck. Smoking is not permitted in cabins, even those with French balconies. The same policy applies to e-cigarettes.

Dress Code

There is a dress code onboard our TUI River Cruises – it’s smart-casual.

During the day, the rules are quite relaxed, however beachwear can’t be worn in the restaurants.

In the evenings, the dress code is smarter. Men will need to wear long trousers or smart tailored shorts, a shirt or polo shirt and closed shoes. There’s the opportunity to get dressed up for our Gala dinner which takes place once per cruise of 5 nights or more, but there’s no requirement to do so.

Payment Options

Everything on board is priced in Euros. Our River cruise ships are cashless and you can charge everything you buy on board during your cruise to your cabin account. Accounts are opened when you board the ship and can be settled by cash or credit/debit card.

Please note, on our Nile ship sailings everything will be priced in Egyptian pounds.

Can I withdraw cash with my River Cruise onboard account card?

Our ships are cashless, so it’s not possible to withdraw money on your onboard account card.

Do I need a Visa for my TUI River Cruise?

For British passport holders, visit www.fco.gov.uk/travel or call 0845 850 2829 to check if you need a visa. For other passport holders, please check with the consulate or embassy of the countries you’re travelling to.

A tourist visa is required for visitors to Luxor. You can apply for an e-visa online through our visa partner, Sherpa. You can also purchase a visa on arrival in resort if you hold a full British Passport. The visa cost at the moment is $33 USD per person if purchased from the local authorities or £25 GBP if purchased from our destination management company. Please note Visas purchased on the spot are cash only. cards are not accepted.

We recommend that customers purchase their visa before travel to avoid queues. Online visas should be applied for at least 10 days before departure.

Drinks Package

For our European river cruises it includes a selection of wines, beers and ciders, cocktails, spirits and aperitifs, premium coffees from the Club Lounge and a range of soft drinks.

Our Nile river cruises include draught beers, local wine, local spirits, a selection cocktails and local coffee as standard, as part of our All Inclusive offering.

Solo Travellers

We understand that some people travelling alone want to spend time with other guests, while others prefer to be alone. We organise a get-togethers with solo travellers in mind for you to join if you’d like to. If you’re worried about dining alone, you can have a chat with the Cruise Experience Manager who’ll make sure you’re seated with other guests.

River Cruise Shore Experience

What information is required to book a river cruise shore experience?

In order to book a TUI River Cruise shore experience for one of our ships, you’ll need to have already completed your holiday booking. You’ll need your holiday booking reference, cruise start date and lead passenger surname.

For selected experiences, you may be required to provide additional information – this will be requested from you on board if necessary. Please ensure you read all the information relating to the experiences you have chosen.

Are shore experiences included in the price of my River Cruise?

We don’t include shore experiences on our European itineraries, to allow you the flexibility to choose what you would like to do. We have over 100 shore experiences to choose from – from wine tasting to city tours and everything in between.

On our Nile sailings shore experiences are included in Edfu and Kom Ombo. Shore experiences at all other ports are payable.

Can I book shore experiences whilst onboard my River Cruise?

Yes, you’ll be able to book and pay for these on board. Just so you know, you’ll need to use your own mobile or tablet to do this and to pay via card. You can’t pay using cash, or charge them to your onboard account. We recommend booking in advance to secure your space.

How do you book river cruise shore experiences?

Once your shore experiences are available to book, we’ll send you an email to let you know. You’ll then be able to access our Experience Website, here you’ll be able to view and book experiences for your cruise. Alternatively, you can call our team on 0203 451 2688.
